The story of Administer Oyj begins in 1985, when Onni Aho founded the company. In its early years, Administer focused on traditional accounting and property management services, leveraging its exceptionally strong IT expertise and solutions. The goal was to provide affordable, functional services and meet the demand for software.
In the 1990s, Administer took significant steps towards a new era of information technology. The company invested heavily in information systems and their utilization in services and developed, among other things, purchase invoice processing, which was used in automatic accounting. This enabled more efficient and accurate financial management. This strategic direction set it apart from many of its competitors and laid the foundation for the company’s growth in the following decades.
First software: Tili-Hamsteri and Isäntä-Hamsteri
Administer’s business consisted mainly of providing property management services to housing companies and accounting services to businesses. For this purpose, the company developed its own software, which was also sold to other operators in the field.
Administer’s software offering began with the Tili-Hamsteri and Isäntä-Hamsteri programs. These software programs were designed for small companies that needed flexible and cost-effective financial management solutions. At that time, there were only a few similar software programs available, and several hundred copies of Hamsteri were sold. One of Hamsteri’s competitors was EmCe.
Tili-Hamsteri was accounting software that allowed customers to do their own accounting. Isäntä-Hamsteri, on the other hand, offered solutions for property management needs.
eFina, a pioneer in electronic financial administrationClick to apply
The eFina system, which is the current cornerstone of Administer, is a modern electronic financial administration system developed to provide companies with an easy and efficient way to manage their finances. eFina enables real-time accounting, invoicing, payroll, and reporting on a single platform. The system is specifically designed to automate financial management routines, reducing manual work and minimizing errors. Easy to use and scalable, eFina integrates seamlessly with other business systems, making it an excellent tool for both small and large companies.
Launched in the early 2000s, eFina was one of the first browser-based financial management systems to be introduced in Finland. It attracted considerable interest among companies and permanently changed the way the accounting market operated.
A pioneer in digital financial management
Demand was high and eFina attracted interest, but a one-man accounting firm did not inspire enough confidence in companies. This challenge was solved by making the first acquisition, purchasing Laskentavoima Oy in Helsinki. Administer continued its expansion in the early 2000s through acquisitions and began its own active sales operations in 2005 by hiring the group’s current CEO as the company’s first sales manager. Growth was accelerated by making selected acquisitions of accounting firms from different parts of Finland, which strengthened its position as a national player. At the same time, the development of the eFina system continued at a rapid pace.
The leap to becoming a provider of financial management services for large companies was taken in 2017, when Administer acquired a financial management services company from Enfo, which later became Adner Oy. The year 2018 was a very significant one for the company. That year, huge leaps forward were taken on the growth path with the acquisition of Kuntalaskenta Oy and Silta Oy. To finance the acquisition of Silta Oy, which was larger than Administer, private equity investor BoCap was brought in as a minority shareholder.
The next special year was 2021. At that time, the private equity investor divested from the company, and the software company EmCe merged with Administer in the summer of 2021. In the same year, Administer took a significant step and was listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finland marketplace on December 17, 2021. The aim of the listing was to raise capital to support the company’s growth strategy and increase its visibility in the market.
In 2022, several accounting firms were acquired, as well as the financial and human resources management company Econia Oy, which significantly increased the group’s turnover. Administer has established a strong position as a provider of financial and human resources management services and has the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
